Welcome Home

This month marks a milestone that ourHOME has been working toward for years: the first residents have officially moved into ourHOME.
What began as a vision shared by families, supporters, volunteers, and community partners has now become a reality. After years of planning, fundraising, construction, and preparation, ourHOME is no longer just a dream for the future—it is a place where people are living, growing, and building community today.
ourHOME Celebrates Groundbreaking of First Inclusive Housing Community in Homewood

ourHOME has officially broken ground on its first inclusive housing community in Homewood, marking a major milestone in the organization’s mission to build interdependent communities for adults with developmental differences.
Conquering Adversity with Joy

At just 14 years old, Ragan’s life changed forever when she sustained a traumatic brain injury. The road to recovery was long and difficult. She had to relearn how to walk and speak, but Ragan’s determination never wavered. Today, she’s not just rebuilding her life—she’s thriving, and inspiring others along the way.
Brothers in Harmony

In a town where community events and church gatherings form the backbone of daily life, two brothers are quietly shaping the soundtrack — and the pictures — of it all. Matthew and Will Davis, both members of the ourHOME community, have turned their talents into acts of service that connect generations and strengthen neighborhood ties.
Photo Scavenger Hunt

This September, our Members set out on a photo scavenger hunt through Homewood while parents enjoyed a well-deserved dinner together.
Our Members loved discovering hidden corners and beautiful sights in the community, while parents had the chance to relax, connect, and share stories with others walking a similar path.
Volunteer Work Days

From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU for giving your time, energy, and strength to our volunteer workday. Whether you were laying sod, hauling furniture, cleaning out spaces, or trimming hedges, every effort made a real and visible difference. Because of you, ourHOME is more beautiful, organized, and welcoming. It’s the perfect place for our community—thanks to you!
McWane Center Trip

Did you know that Birmingham has a bus that runs directly from downtown Homewood to downtown Birmingham, including the BJCC? It’s called the Magic City Connector, and it is safe, clean, and only costs $0.30 per ride! This is a great resource to help increase INDEPENDENCE for our members.
